1. LIFE IN THE AFFECTED REGIONS: AN OUTLOOK TO THE FUTURE  (2011, PDF)

Chernobyl, Chornobyl, Media, Information provision, UNDPThis publication is prepared within the framework of the UN International Chernobyl Research and Information Network» (ICRIN), which is implemented in Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. In 2010, three countries have conducted contests of journalistic work on Chernobyl issues. Publications and videos of the competitions winners are presented in this publication. Through the eyes of journalists the reader can see life in the affected areas from the inside. All media materials are grouped thematically in the following sections: «Life in the Affected Areas», «Take Control of Your Own Future», «Information and Radiation». Attached to the publication CD contains videos prepared by the media contest participants.

This report was presented on behalve of UNDP at the International Scientific Conference "Twenty -five Years after Chornobyl Accident: Safety for the Future" by Jerzy Osiatynski.

 

3.  "Social Consequences of Chornobyl Accident: Time for Recovery" (2011, in Ukrainian, PDF )

 

Publication is a collection of articles on current state of affected areas and dynamic of social changes after Chornobyl edited by prof. Y. Sayenko, the National Institute of Sociology of Ukraine. Published with the support of UNDP Ukraine.

In April 2009, the Office of the United Nations Coordination of International Cooperation on Chernobyl produced a video "Turning the Page", with up-to-date footage from Chernobyl-affected communities and Chernobyl-related projects implemented by UNDP in Belarus, the Russian Federation and Ukraine.  

7. Film "A STEP AHEAD: How Ukrainian Communities Are Helping Themselves" is UNDP released documentary about community development in Ukraine. (2008)

The film’s main idea is when Ukrainian communities are empowered to take charge of their destiny, they are able to use their collective strength to help themselves The film was produced in partnership with the Centre for Ukrainian Reform Education. What important about this community-based approach to local participatory development is that it tries to build up the skills and competencies of local communities and their local leadership in order to promote a sense of self-empowerment, as many experts agree.

 

 

8. Facts for Life on Chornobyl" (2008 In Ukrainian only, PDF)

 

 

 

The special addition of "Facts for Life" is a joint effort of UNICEF, WHO, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNDP, UNAIDS and the World Bank.

 

 

 

 

 

9. CRDP DIGEST REPORT 2005-2007 (PDF)

The Report presents in detail results and achievements of the project “Helping Individuals Address their Fears, Problems, and Risks in Chornobyl-Affected Communities”, funded by UNHSTF and implemented by UNDP/Ukraine through its Chornobyl Recovery and Development Program with a focus on specific areas outlined in the approved project document: a) Building Self-Reliance and Dignity; b) Creating Livelihoods and Economic Opportunities;  c) Protecting Threatened Lives in Contaminated Zones.
