CHORNOBYL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FORUM (CHEDF) 2008
The Chornobyl Economic Development Forum (ChEDF) was launched in 2005 and initiated by the UNDP, representatives of central and regional authorities, local self-governance authorities, businesses, international and national governmental and non-governmental organizations. The ChEDF’s activities are directed to contributing to economic recovery, creating conditions to elaborate a successive strategy of economic development for affected territories, drawing the investments, strengthening and developing civil society.
Section named “Innovative business projects for affected territories” – agricultural, localization of the local processing of mushrooms and berries, development of rural and eco-tourisms were very interested to the Third ChEDF meeting participants.
Public opinion survey which conducted among over 100 potential participants has showed that the most interesting and common topic for all affected regions is effective lands-use and development of traditional ways and brand-new innovations in agriculture. On this basis, mentioned problem will be the main topic on this year’s ChEDF.
This year meeting is conducted in form of seminar with involvement of national leading experts and specialists.
