The participants at the event included: national, regional and local authorities, NGOs and other civil society organizations, representatives of the community organizations, UNDP projects, SIDA, CIDA and other international donors as well as mass media.

The UNDP Chornobyl Recovery and Development Programme informed about its achievements, shared CRDP experiences in the field of social mobilization within affected communities and presented its recommendations to contribute to the local development.

In his presentation, Mykola Movchan, CRDP Knowledge management specialist, introduced an overview of activities, strategic approaches, methodology and achievements of the UNDP/CRDP in Chornobyl affected areas of Ukraine. Yugesh Pradhanang, CRDP Community development specialist, informed about the CRDP’s practical experiences and strategies of community development and social mobilization in Kyivska, Zhytomyrska, Chernihivska and Rivnenska oblasts.

Svitlana Shevchenko, Leader of a community organization from the village of Kruglyk (Kyiv oblast) shared the experience of establishment of the youth center at Kruglyk and social mobilization in the village. Yuliya Jola, Director of the youth center in the village of Zamglay (Chernihiv oblast) informed about the achievements of the youth center and shared the experience of youth community mobilization. In course of the discussions at the workshop, Sergiy Shcherbak, CRDP Ecological specialist, informed the participants about the CRDP’s environmental strategies and approaches to reduce health risks for population of Chornobyl  affected areas of Ukraine.

During the meetings and working groups sessions, there was discussed further cooperation with the SDC and SDC supported projects as well as with UNDP partner projects. The participation of such UNDP programs as CRDP, MSDP, HSfY and CIDP in the capitalization workshop contributed to deepening synergy and strengthening cooperation among UNDP programs and donors.

Participating in the discussions, the CRDP team shared a large CRDP’s experience in the field of partnership “communities – private sector – local authorities – international organizations”.  Such a synergy among different stakeholders contributes to developing strategic approaches and long-term cooperation in the field of social mobilization.
